This course is designed to prepare outstanding medical students to pursue careers in academic medicine including medical education, research, and clinical practice in an academic health care setting. The goal is to expose and provide the medical student with basic teaching skills, research training and experience in health care delivery necessary to become a faculty member in an academic environment. Each student upon completion will (1) develop knowledge and skills in educational research, (2) develop effective verbal and written communication skills, (3) increase the understanding in making up a curriculum and developing academic programs, (4) integrate information technology into medical education, health care delivery and research, and (5) thrive in a career in academic medicine. |
