This course focuses on all the essentials of single camera production through lectures, demonstrations and practical exercises in the classroom. Emphasis is placed on the tools and technology, and their relation to the aesthetics and functional concerns of the director and cinematographer/videographer. Pairs of students (director/cameraperson) are assigned to produce and edit a short production under the supervision of the instructor. Required shooting and editing sessions for these projects are scheduled outside of class hours. |

PROD 650 | Moving Images Production Workshop II | 4 | College of Arts & Sciences |
This course focuses on pre-production with emphasis on storyboarding for both live and animated productions. Topics include script design, script analysis, set and light design, camera and actor blocking, music and sound effects. Students are assigned to develop a complete package that includes a working script, script breakdown, production schedule, budget and scenery design. Students also conduct casting and auditioning sessions, screen tests and location scouting. At the end of this course, a number of scripts are selected for production in the following semester. This course places responsibility on each student for directing and producing her/his own production. Each student also participates as a crew member for the production of his/her classmates. Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisite: PROD 650 |
