Summer Reactor
The Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences and New York Tech is offering a mini-course for incoming first year and second year students registered for chemistry courses in Fall 2024. The Summer Reactor is led by our full time chemistry faculty and is designed to give students a head start towards success in chemistry courses.
Two week, in person mini-course for second year students enrolled in CHEM 210 - Organic Chemistry in Fall 2024.
August 19 – August 30, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Long Island campus
This in person mini-course will offer a review of general chemistry topics relevant to the major themes in organic chemistry selected by our faculty to best prepare students for success in CHEM 210 and 250. After completing the Summer Reactor students will gain an understanding of the underlying concepts of organic chemistry and be ready for the advanced topics they will learn during the upcoming semester.
Three week, in person mini-course is for incoming first year students registered for CHEM 105, CHEM 107, or CHEM 110 in Fall 2024.
August 12 – August 30, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Long Island campus
This in person mini-course will offer short lectures and problem solving sessions covering AP chemistry and general chemistry topics selected by our faculty to best prepare students for success in college-level general chemistry. After completing the Summer Reactor students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of general chemistry and be ready for the advanced topics they will learn during the upcoming semester.
