Psychologist Lisa Hoffman, Ph.D., has been in private practice for 19 years, providing individual psychotherapy for patients suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar, psychosis, OCD, relationship issues, and cognitive deficits, among other conditions. Her expertise includes suicide prevention, trauma, neurodevelopmental disorders, brain injury, cognitive remediation, and severe and persistent Mental illness (SPMI). She currently provides psychotherapy for patients at the Center for Behavioral Health at New York Tech and serves the Academic Healthcare Center in Old Westbury and the Family Health Care Center at Central Islip.
Before joining NYITCOM in October 2019, Hoffman was a principal psychologist at both Manhattan Psychiatric Center and Kirby Forensic Centers for 16 years. She implemented cognitive remediation programs at both facilities and served as a primary psychologist on various inpatient and outpatient wards. Hoffman held a supervisory role in the Department of Psychology and worked closely with interns, externs, and medical students from NYU.
Hoffman earned her doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from Yeshiva University-Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and completed her Internship at Montefiore Medical Center in Neuropsychology, where she also served as the primary psychologist in the Psychiatric ER. Her post-doctoral training was completed at Federation Employment & Guidance Service (F.E.G.S.), where she implemented a cognitive rehabilitation program for psychiatric patients enrolled in a structured rehabilitation day program. Hoffman has also served as a neuropsychologist at NSLIJ-Hillside Hospital, where she implemented cognitive remediation programs/labs at both Hillside Hospital and at an outpatient rehabilitation program in the suburbs of England. She has also served academically, as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Pace University, where she taught courses such as Health Psychology and Neuropsychology to masters-level students.
