Department: Family Medicine

Campus: Long Island

Education Credentials: D.O.

Nancy A. Bono graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Adelphi University. She earned her D.O. degree from NYITCOM and completed her internship and residency at Long Beach Medical Center (N.Y.).

As a NYITCOM faculty member, Bono has redesigned the Doctor-Patient Relationship course to give first- and second-year students the opportunity to learn in small group sessions with faculty guidance. These groups cover the most fundamental aspects of patient interaction through role-playing and clinical case discussions. In addition to this weekly course, she hosts the live models workshop where students are able to practice male and female exams on real people, exposing them to some of the more intimate aspects of practicing medicine and interacting comfortably and with respect for the patient.

In academia, her supervision and participation in research endeavors showcase the most desirable qualities of the profession: genuine care, concern, and compassion for the individual balanced with the professionalism, intelligence, and ethical standards patients seek in their ideal physician.

As a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners, Bono actively participates in these important and influential organizations. As the faculty advisor to the NYITCOM Student Chapter of American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners, she extends her knowledge and her time in a way that enriches and benefits not only the individual doctor, but her colleagues and students as well.
