Aaron Anderson received a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego, and an M.A. in Literature and a B.A. in Literature and Film & Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Before joining New York Tech, he taught at universities in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He has conducted research on dystopian literature and cinema, political power, religion, rhetoric, and sovereignty in the “War on Terror,” as well as cinematic pleasure, violence, and the human body in horror cinema.
His current research and teaching interests include Southeast Asian popular culture at the intersections of mythology, religion, (post)colonialism, and the horror film, literatures of the Pacific Rim, as well as Middle Eastern popular culture, including hip hop and street art.
