Ann-Marie Parkes develops graduate-level programs and teaches courses in the Master of Science in Instructional Technology (MSIT) degree program in face-to-face and blended-learning environments. Before transferring to the Vancouver campus in 2020, she supported NYIT students in the United Arab Emirates, and advised on Abu Dhabi Education and Federal Qualification Framework committees as well as with local educators to enrich their professional development.
Prior to coming to the UAE in 2008, Parkes worked at universities in Hong Kong and Australia. She was also the external evaluator for teacher education research projects with Scandinavian Universities. As a military veteran (R.A.A.F) and former police educator, her experiences in these areas inspired her research interests in transformative and enquiry-based learning, action research, and andragogy.
She graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with an M.Ed. and B.Ed. and earned her Ed.D. and Graduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning from Charles Sturt University, Australia.
