Cesar Chavez Navarrete is an assistant professor of education in the NYIT College of Arts and Sciences Department of Education at New York Institute of Technology. He holds a B.S in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College, Albany, New York; and a Master of Education in Instructional Design and Ph. D. in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in Learning Technology from The University of Texas at Austin.

A U.S. Navy veteran serving in SEAL 2, he specialized in field communications, translation, and photography. He also worked as a spacesuit technician at the Johnson Space Center in astronaut crew training for the Space Shuttle program.

With experience in K-12 bilingual and ESL education, Navarrete has taught graduate education courses at The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas San Antonio, and has worked as an instructional designer for the U.S. Department of Education.

His published works focus on the use of social network sites in education, mobile-learning, and game construction learning. His current research interests include creative thinking, computational thinking, e-Learning, robotics, and student game programming.
