Cheryl Zauderer, has been a registered nurse since 1985. After working in the areas of labor, delivery, and mother-baby, she received her nurse-midwifery certificate in 1996. It was though her work with postpartum women that she began to notice some women having difficult birthing experiences, and subsequently suffering from anxiety and depression. She received her psychiatric nurse practitioner degree in 2005, for the sole purpose of helping these women recover and enjoy their babies and families. A subsequent doctorate in psychology followed.

Zauderer teaches Nursing at the baccalaureate level at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, N.Y., where she is a tenured assistant professor. She is the author of several published articles in professional journals on a variety of topics related to maternal newborn health and psychiatric mental health. Her areas of research are in Postpartum/perinatal Mood Disorders (PPMD), and Skin-to-Skin Breastfeeding, and she is frequently asked to lecture on the topic of PPMD. Zauderer has served as a board member for PSI (Postpartum Support International), and has been the Nassau/Suffolk coordinator since 2009. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has a private practice where she provides therapy and medication management to women suffering from PPMD and other reproductive issues.

Cheryl earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Capella University, her Master of Science from Stony Brook University, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Adelphi University.
