Efrat Nizan came from Israel and began her journey as a pilot and a flight instructor. At a later stage, she pursued her bachelor of architecture degree at New York Tech. She worked with Skidmore Owings and Merrill in its New York office as an intern during her undergraduate years and after graduation as a full-time employee with their design team. After moving to Ridgefield, Conn., Nizran worked for a local architect, specializing in high-end residential projects. At that time, she also founded and directed a program called Archikids in an elementary school in Danbury, and was captivated by the students’ creativity and interest. She pursued a higher degree in architecture to allow her to teach students of architecture at a higher level and to be part of a system that enables lifelong learning, while giving young adults the tools to become successful architects. She graduated from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in New York in 2009 with a post professional degree in Advanced Architecture Design, and has been teaching architecture and working on small-scale projects since.
