John Karahalis is a certified school psychologist and licensed mental health counselor specializing in individuals with special needs, in particular: Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Schizophrenia as well as non-specific cognitive, emotional, and physical challenges from preschool through adulthood.

Karahalis's professional experiences include working as a psychologist for the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and Office of Mental Health and as a school psychologist at United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island and Eastern Suffolk BOCES.

He has been an adjunct professor of psychology with over 30 years of collegiate service starting at local community colleges on Long Island to his present position.

Karahalis's experiences include working closely with schools, providing services to special needs students in implementing coherent individualized education and service plans, as well as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and parent and staff development training programs.

He received his doctorate in Educational Leadership, professional diploma in Child Psychology, and master's degree in School Psychology from St. John's University.
