She has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, studying cellular development. Currently, she does osteopathic clinical and translational research. Her special interests include neurological disorders, connective tissue disorders, pediatrics, and sports and outdoor recreation injuries.

Recent Projects/Research

Her research investigates how osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) can best be used to manage central nervous system disorders and connective tissue disorders. She uses a translational approach to determine the relationships between the clinical effects of OMM and the underlying mechanisms. The mechanisms she currently measures include the microbiome in Parkinson's disease and factors involved in healing from injuries such as concussion and sprains. Osteopathic approach to care often involves OMM, which includes the examination and treatment of the neuromusculoskeletal system physiology with our hands to improve body mechanics such as unstable joints, muscle tone, circulation of body fluids, and decompressing nerves.
