Juliana Mariano obtained her Ph.D. in civil engineering from the Federal University of Technology-ParanĂ¡ in 2021, aimed to propose energy management strategies focused on peak shaving. She has several years of experience carrying out projects in universities and a research centre in renewable energy projects. Further, she published a book about solar energy principles in 2022 as a major contribution to this field. In the industry sector, she has had five years of experience in the solar energy field in photovoltaic (PV) systems with energy storage system integration working with R&D for electricity companies in Brazil. As a result, her research team developed an evaluation of the Brazilian scenario regarding the energy storage systems implementation challenges, such as regulatory barriers, business models, and opportunities for R&D in the energy market. She is a certified professional technologist working with education and design of PV systems in Brazil and Canada.
