Dr. Lloyd Jura is an Assistant Professor and accomplished information security expert, with over 25 years of experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC). Armed with advanced degrees in business administration and cybersecurity, he contributes significantly to shaping academic and professional discussions on GRC and cybersecurity awareness training. Dr. Jura's interdisciplinary perspective informs his research, delving into the interplay between governance structures, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance strategies in contemporary business landscapes. A proficient communicator and educator, he is an expert in various frameworks, including PCI-DSS, SOC 2, NIST CSF, and ISO 27001.
Dr. Jura has held senior leadership roles in both government and private organizations. As Director of Cybersecurity and Data Stewardship at Fraser Health Authority, he managed risk, privacy, protection of data, and compliance programs while spearheading the establishment of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. He has also held senior positions at ICBC, Vivonet, IBM Canada, and TELUS Security Solutions.
Besides being a Professor at NYIT-Vancouver since 2018 and also Director of Industry Outreach, Dr. Jura is involved in the cybersecurity community in Vancouver. He has been the Director of Programs for the Vancouver Security Special Interest Group (Van SecSIG) / (ISC)2 Vancouver Chapter for over seven years and the Director of Academic Relations for ISACA Vancouver.
