Luz Minaya serves as the Director of Field Placement and Certification for Education programs at New York Tech. She oversees field placement and teacher certification for the Departments of Teacher Education, School Counseling, and Instructional Technology.

She is also an adjunct professor and teaches the Educational Uses of Social Media course. In addition, she facilitates the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) certification course. In this role, Minaya collaborates, designs, and delivers training to adult learners while applying a practical and interactive style. Prior to joining New York Tech, Minaya worked as a teacher in New York City Public Schools. In this capacity, she served as a Foreign Language Educator and Technology Coordinator. She is a permanently certified New York State public school teacher with a master's degree in Instructional Technology and a bachelor's degree in Spanish with a minor in Bilingual Education.

In her role as foreign language educator, Minaya has demonstrated a continued commitment to integrating innovative practices to enhance student engagement and learning. As the technology coordinator, she collaborated with administration when developing and implementing school-wide initiatives such as writing technology grants, setting technology goals, planning, and executing professional development.

When Minaya is not in an educational setting, she shares her time with her family, traveling, taking photographs, dancing, biking, and most importantly, learning new things!
