Lazaros Pavlidis was hired as an adjunct instructor in 1985 in the Computer Science department. In 1990 he became a full time faculty member in the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences. He is currently a tenured Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology. During his time at New York Tech, he has taught numerous first, second, third and fourth year courses to students majoring in Electrical and Computer engineering technology, and telecommunications. When he was in the Computer Science department, he taught undergraduate as well as graduate level classes.

Over this extended period, Pavlidis has had a sustained interest in digital electronics, microcontrollers, and programming. He has an extensive list of consulting jobs where he developed new products or improved old ones. He brings this experience to his classes and he is very enthusiastic about the subjects he teaches.

At the beginning of his academic carrier, he was involved in research in the area of bioengineering and biomechanics, and worked at New York University and the Hospital of Joint Diseases/Orthopedic Institute. His name appears in a number of research appears in the area of bioengineering and biomechanics.

Pavlidis worked for many years with students of local high schools, helping them participate in national and regional competitions. Students he advised have won many prestigious national level awards. He received many awards for his volunteer work including, an IEEE Region 1 award in 1997.

He is a lifelong member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) and serve as the editor of the local newsletter from 1996 to 2001, and holds two patents.

Pavlidis received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 from Aristotle University of Greece, and his Master of Art degree in 1985 from Queens College of the City University of New York.
