Michael Tautonico joined the full-time faculty of New York Tech's physical therapy program as assistant professor, after serving as an adjunct instructor in the areas of neurological rehabilitation, kinesiology, manual therapy 1, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Previous academia experience includes lead instructor for Physical Therapy Interventions 1, adjunct professor for modalities and therapeutic exercise at Touro College. Tautonico also participated on the Touro College Physical Therapy Advisory Board. Clinically, he worked as therapist at Catholic Home Care, Winthrop University Hospital, Central Island Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Fox Rehabilitation.

Tautonico is an APTA American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties board-certified neurologic clinical specialist. He was accepted by New York Tech in the 3 + 3 program, which led him to receive his B.S. and doctorate of Physical Therapy. He has taken numerous continuing education courses with a specialty in neurological rehabilitation including his LSVT certification for treatment of patients with Parkinson's Disease. His research areas of interest are Parkinson's Disease interventions, and balance and falls prevention.
