Nicholas DeFelice received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and graduate degree in Structural Engineering from Manhattan College. Upon graduation, he worked in New York City for a number of prominent structural engineering firms, including Robert Silman Associates and LeMessurier Associates. He pursues a simultaneous interest in architectural education and practice, having practiced structural engineering for over 35 years. He first taught as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College in 1981, and has been a full-time faculty member in the NYIT School of Architecture since 1989. He teaches structures courses and is currently serving as the Structure's Coordinator at the Long Island campus.

DeFelice's professional activities include consulting services to several Long Island Architectural firms. In this capacity, he provides direct project oversight and guidance on a wide array of project types from residential design, building additions, alterations and retrofits to structural design of telecommunication sites for AT&T Wireless, Verizon, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile.
