Rakesh Mittal specializes in the fields of management and analytics. His research on leadership and organizational processes has been published in prestigious international journals, including the Journal of World Business and the International Journal of Organizational Analysis. He has also contributed to the literature on data analytics and artificial intelligence in Internal Auditing. Additionally, he has presented his research at prominent conferences in the U.S. and Europe, such as the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, and the European Academy of Management.
Mittal is passionate about teaching and views it as an opportunity to inspire and empower students. His previous career included senior leadership roles across multiple countries, bringing a wealth of hands-on management experience that enhances his classroom credibility. His courses—Business Analytics and Decision Making, Data Interaction & Visualization, Data Mining and Pattern Recognition for Business Analytics, and Practical AI for Business—consistently earn outstanding student evaluations. He has recently pioneered the integration of AI projects into his curriculum.
Mittal's commitment to staying at the forefront of his field is evident in his continuous learning journey. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM. He later completed Post Graduate Programs in Data Science and Business Analytics and in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: Business Applications from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds certificates in People Analytics from the Wharton School and in AI: Implications for Business Strategy from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Most recently, in 2025, he completed the Azure OpenAI program on Generative AI and earned the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900) certificate.
Beyond his individual achievements, Mittal is actively leading efforts to infuse AI across the MBA curriculum, helping to prepare the next generation of business leaders for an AI-driven business world.
Rakesh Mittal is recognized as "Scholarly Academic," the highest designation for scholars as defined by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), a global organization that evaluates business school curricula and establishes standards for quality assurance.
