Thomas Chan is a pediatrician who practices at the NYITCOM Family Health Care Center in Central Islip, N.Y. As faculty member at NYITCOM, his medical teaching roles include mentoring medical students at the health center, lecturing on a variety of pediatric disciplines, and leading many small group-based teaching activities in. He is a part of the national faculty for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.
Chan received his medical degree at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, N.Y., and worked at the Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center in Wyandanch, N.Y. as a pediatric attending prior to joining NYITCOM as a physician and faculty member.
As a pediatrician and educator, Chan is a strong proponent of enriching opportunities to promote early childhood development. He implemented and is the coordinator for the Reach Out and Read Program at the Family Health Care Center in Central Islip.
