School of Architecture and Design Receives Additional IDC Foundation Grant

NYIT School of Architecture and Design received a grant from the IDC Foundation for the second year in a row. Reflecting the university’s mission of access to opportunity, the new grant will continue to support students in the School of Architecture and Design by funding participation in faculty-led international thesis, summer study abroad programs, workshops, conferences, and any academic activity that aligns with their pursuits.

Specifically, New York Tech has received $130,000 from IDC Foundation to support scholarships, fellowships, and student experiences including travel for undergraduate and professional students preparing for careers in fields relating to architectural design, engineering, and building construction. Of that amount, $100,000 will support scholarships and/or research fellowships; $30,000 will enrich student experiences including travel to explore design and construction practices abroad.

“Our perspective and our pedagogy prepare students for the increasingly interconnected world we live in. The international travel programs, and our support for international service learning and student exchange, prepare our graduates to be global citizens ready for evolving 21st-century careers,” said Maria R. Perbellini, M.Arch., dean of the School of Architecture and Design. “The IDC Foundation grant helps our students to participate in innovative and immersive, hands-on learning and professional growth experiences.”

“The IDC Foundation is excited to increase its grant-making to advance the training of students in Greater New York City in architectural design, engineering, and building construction,” said Raymond R. Savino, president of the IDC Foundation. “In doing so, the Foundation extends the legacy of the Institute of Design and Construction by advancing opportunity in Greater New York City to new generations seeking to study, join, and lead those industries.”
