This event provides a great opportunity to network, celebrate success, and inspire and support NYIT students. Sponsorship dollars go towards the FRIENDS mission of promoting a working relationship between the architecture, construction, and interior design professions and NYIT School of Architecture through the funding of student scholarships, guest lectures, and conferences.

The Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building, InterActiveCorp's headquarters, is located at 555 W.18th Street on the northeast corner of Eleventh Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan and was completed in 2007. The building was Gehry's first in New York and featured the world's largest high definition screen at the time in its lobby.

Denise M. Berger, FAIA
Chief of Operations, Engineering Department, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
With a career that spans more than 30 years, Denise M. Berger (B.Arch. ’86) oversees the operations of the engineering department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey—a department that is made up of over 570 staff members and has a professional services annual budget of $1.3 billion dollars. The Department is a critical contributor to the delivery of the Agency’s $32B Capital Plan.

Berger serves on several industry boards including WTS International, PWC National, and the board of the ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York. A graduate of NYIT, Berger currently serves on NYIT’s School of Architecture and Design Advisory Board. In 2018, Ms. Berger received the honor of being elevated to the AIA’s College of Fellows.
Joseph A. Chiarelli
President, New York City Metro Operations, Consigli Construction
Joe Chiarelli (B.S. ’92) is president of New York City Metro Operations at Consigli Construction where he oversees more than 200 employees and $500 million in construction management volume encompassing New York City and Long Island.
Read MoreChiarelli has spent the past 30 years working in construction management. He was a co-founder of T.G. Nickel & Associates, LLC., a nationally recognized construction management firm, and as executive vice president and director of operations, played a critical role in transforming T.G. Nickel & Associates from a small, Long Island-based construction firm to a preeminent New York builder. T.G. Nickel & Associates was named one of Crain’s Top 100 Places to Work in NYC in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, after years of joint-partnership work between the firms, Chiarelli played an integral part in Consigli Construction’s acquisition of the company.
Chiarelli graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s in Architectural Technology. He is deeply committed to mentoring and supporting future leaders in ACE and credits NYIT for giving him the foundation he needed to be a leader in the industry. Chiarelli gives back to his alma mater by mentoring and recruiting students from the school—in fact, 20 percent of Consigli’s New York City staff is comprised of NYIT alumni—and is a founding member of the NYIT FRIENDS of the School of Architecture and Design.
