Dear New York Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Beginning Monday, November 15, 2021, everyone accessing the New York City and Long Island campuses will be required upon entry to show their COVID-19 Health Screen to New York Tech security guards each day they wish to access campus.
We have updated the online Health Screen, which will now produce a green screen, blue screen, or red screen, as described below. Please remember to complete the health screen each day before you leave home and allow some extra time to get to campus. On Long Island, we will have a “fast pass” lane for those who have received green health screens.
In addition to posing daily COVID-19 health screening questions, the online Health Screen will now automatically check to see if you have approved proof of full vaccination on file with New York Tech. It will then produce one of three possible results depending on your vaccination status and responses to the daily health screening questions:
Green Screen: If you have approved proof of full COVID-19 vaccination on file and can satisfactorily answer the daily health screening questions, you will receive a green check mark and may visit campus.
Blue Caution Screen: If you do not yet have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination on file or you have submitted the proof but it is still in the process of being reviewed, you will receive a blue caution screen allowing you to visit campus, provided that you satisfactorily answer the daily health screening questions and show one of the following:
- proof that you are fully vaccinated, or
- a negative COVID-19 test result taken within the past seven days (requirement for those individuals who have an approved exemption), or
- a valid written testing exception letter from New York Tech’s chief medical officer.

You will be permitted to visit campus but will be required to show your proof of vaccination, negative test result or testing exception letter at campus entry.
Red Denial: If you have not been fully vaccinated and answer “no” to the testing or daily health screening questions, you may not visit campus.
Students who need assistance in uploading their vaccine status should contact ows@nyit.edu. Employees should contact hrbenefits@nyit.edu for assistance.
There will be no change to the Health Screen process for guests, who still require an invitation from a New York Tech community member to complete the current online Health Screen.
As we have shared many times before, your health and safety are our priority, and we will continue to seek and establish ways to protect the well-being of our community members. Please respect our mask mandate and wear a face covering on campus in indoor settings. And, if you are not feeling well, remain at home.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and vigilance.
Regards,
Hank Foley, Ph.D.
