Training Programs: Physical Therapy Aide

We are offering a FREE 60 hour Physical Therapy Aide course. Physical Therapy Aides help people regain function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent permanent physical disabilities by restoring, maintaining, and promoting overall fitness and health. This certificate of completion will help individuals gain employment as a Physical Therapy Aide as well as provide an exceptional opportunity to learn more about the field of Physical Therapy.

Classes will be held in person on New York Tech's Long Island campus. This FREE training is valued at $1,800.

Skills acquired during the program:

  • Medical terminology
  • How to measure vital signs
  • Range-of-motion exercises
  • Use of canes, crutches, and walkers
  • Massage therapy
  • Hot packs ice applications and sports medicine
  • Stretches/strengthening exercises
  • Whirlpool therapy
  • Fitness, nutrition, and weight control
  • Office duties

Updated May 21, 2024: The New York Tech Healthcare Service Training Project has reached its maximum number of participants and is closed. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this NYS Department of Labor grant and train so many individuals, and we look forward to other grants that can provide a similar service to our community.

This program is part of the New York Tech Healthcare Service Training Project, offering qualified individuals tuition-free training in response to the healthcare needs of the Long Island region.
