Helen Irving

Helen Irving’s career has focused on organ donation and transplantation with a particular interest in access to these services. Most recently she served as the President and CEO of LiveOnNY from September of 2011 until December 2021. She holds significant clinical, administrative, and business expertise coupled with both an understanding of New York healthcare and a national perspective on issues in transplantation.
Prior to joining the New York Organ Donor Network, Ms. Irving held the position on Vice President, Hospital Operations at The Mount Sinai Hospital, NY, NY. In addition to many other areas of responsibility, she also provided senior administrative support for solid organ transplantation, dialysis, and bone marrow transplantation.
Ms. Irving began her career as a critical care nurse and originally joined the New York Organ Donor Network in 1993 initially as a transplant coordinator and later as a clinical manager prior to joining NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as the Senior Heart Transplant Coordinator in 1998. Here, Ms. Irving also served as Operations Manager for Transplant Services prior to joining The Mount Sinai Hospital in 2003 as Administrative Director for the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute until 2007.
Ms. Irving, a native of England. She received her B.S. in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, and her M.B.A. in Health Care Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Ms. Irving also serves on the boards of the NYS Hemophilia Consortium and the National Cancer Institute as well as the medical advisory board of NYIT.
