When a Latina mother brought her child to see Jairo Abreu (B.S. ’06, D.P.T. ’08), she told her child, “That can be you in the future.” It’s moments like these that continue to inspire Abreu in his role as supervisor at NYU Langone Rusk Rehabilitation, which serves an underserved community in New York City.

Upon graduating in 2012, Oliver Vasquez (B.S. ’12) was on the move, landing a job with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). In just two years, he would start his company, Vasquez Integrators, designing communication networks and security systems to support transportation agencies, including the MTA.

Like a true athlete, Samantha Snukis (M.S. ’14) pushes herself to the limit, saying, “You have to keep learning new skills and always say ‘yes’ to something new. Just do it because you can always learn from it and keep that experience in your back pocket.”

Student Profile: Xi (Ethan) Rao

Xi (Ethan) Rao enjoys competitive programming and has participated in several contests. In May 2022, he entered Kick Start, Google’s coding competition, coming in second in Canada and 25th in the world.
