And the Survey Says: Our Architects and Designers DO Get Hired and MAKE an Impact

In the recently announced 2019-2020 Design Intelligence (DI) rankings of America’s top Architecture and Design Schools, New York Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture and Design moved up the ladder in the “most hired” categories for architects and interior designers. It received a substantial bump for most-hired graduates among schools with 70-99 graduates, from no. 19 to no. 11. In the list of most-hired from interior design schools with less than 20 graduates, New York Tech jumped from no. 19 to no. 5. In addition, it ranked no. 32 in the “most admired” category.

“The DI rankings are an industry standard,” notes Junius Gonzales, M.D., M.B.A., provost and vice president of academic affairs at New York Tech. “We are thrilled at the upward and forward momentum we are experiencing in student outcomes, and this ranking reflects that our graduates are sought-after and ready to contribute to the fields of architecture and interior design in a meaningful way.”

Each year, the Design Intelligence rankings rely on insights it gathers from more than 3,500 professionals who hire architecture and design graduates, including the schools they most admire, and how recent graduates perform in 12 key areas. DI also gets information from deans, program chairs and department heads at 150 colleges and universities about major changes in curriculum and design education; and from students and recent graduates about the quality of the programs they studied in and how well prepared they feel. The resulting data comprises the highly esteemed industry rankings, which are published in DI’s quarterly annual edition.
