Big Wins for NYIT: The Future is Ours®
June 16, 2017
In June, NYIT took home awards from two prestigious competitions honoring outstanding work in marketing and communications. On June 12, Office of Communications and Marketing staff members accepted two awards at the Public Relations Society of America-New York Chapter (PRSA-NY) 2017 Big Apple Awards gala. Two days later, NYIT was awarded a Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence bronze in the advertising campaign category.
Big Apple Award
For its fully integrated, multi-channel campaign “NYIT: The Future Is Ours®”, the university received a Big Apple Award in the category of Reputation and Brand Management: Government, Associations and Non-Profit Organizations, as well as an Institute for Public Relations award for Best Use of Research, Measurement, and Evaluation. This year’s 160+ entries for the Big Apple awards were judged by senior-level communications practitioners representing a range of disciplines in and around the New York metropolitan area.
“These awards recognize NYIT as a collaborative university that is constantly evolving and differentiating itself before its key publics and stakeholders,” said Nancy Donner, vice president for Communications and Marketing (C&M). “We were able to share these great messages via a carefully crafted, strategic, and integrated campaign that was taken on by every member of the talented C&M team, from design to messaging to events.”
Focusing on the university’s strengths, “NYIT: The Future Is Ours®” builds awareness and reputation among new students as well as key influencers in NYIT’s fields of expertise. The campaign highlights faculty members and students who are shaping the future of humanity through their work in coding, designing, prototyping, and more, while a new, trademarked tagline, “The Future Is Ours®,” serves as a rallying cry that unifies the campaign and the community members featured. The campaign is showcased through a range of channels, including a new array of digital and print advertising, op-eds and faculty thought leadership, videos, social media campaigns, digital signage, and NYIT’s recently launched mobile-first website.
CASE Circle of Excellence
The “NYIT: The Future Is Ours®” advertising campaign also impressed judges in the 2017 CASE Circle of Excellence program who reviewed 62 campaign entries from educational institutions and awarded NYIT a bronze. The awards, which are judged by colleagues from member CASE institutions, acknowledge superior accomplishments that have lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, and deliver exceptional results. Overall, 366 entries in categories encompassing a range of educational advancement products and campaigns received CASE recognitions from the 3,364 entries submitted by 200 institutions around the world.
“This campaign did a wonderful job of standing out in a very crowded market,” noted the judges about NYIT’s entry. “The provocative concept was brought to life through impressively engaging content, and the execution of the campaign clearly achieved the goals outlined by the team.”
The awards capped off a winning “season” for NYIT, which has garnered more than 20 industry accolades since October 2016—including Service Industry Advertising, Communicator, Mercury, Collegiate Advertising, Davey, and W3 awards—for awareness and reputation-building communications and marketing products (including NYIT’s website, videos, advertising, print marketing materials, the Box blog, and op-ed/thought leadership campaign).
