Career Week Wrap-up

Each year, the office of Career Success and Experiential Education hosts Career Week to offer students, faculty, and staff valuable tips and opportunities to enhance their professional development goals. The weeklong event was held in a hybrid in-person and virtual format from April 25 through 29.

There were many events and workshops scheduled, including “The Benefits of LinkedIn Learning as a Student,” which was run by Rachit Kapoor, a graduate student studying computer science and a senior career ambassador.

“This was my first online presentation as the senior career ambassador for the office of Career Success and Experiential Education,” said Kapoor. “It was amazing to witness such an enthusiastic audience keen on developing an understanding of LinkedIn Learning. Before the presentation, I had a very clear goal, and that was to be able to help people help themselves! And with this target in mind, I had nothing but enthusiasm to share with students the amazing new platform New York Tech has to offer us. Free and endless resources for knowledge on LinkedIn Learning.”

Graduate student Rachit Kapoor led the workshop “The Benefits of LinkedIn Learning as a Student” during Career Week.

Other events included:

• “The Introvert’s Guide to Small talk,” led by Daniel Reddington, assistant director of career success, was designed to help students build skills that will translate to the professional world.
• QBE Insurance gave a presentation and information session on data science.
• “What Your Personality Says About You,” presented by Senior Director of Career Success and Experiential Education Amy Bravo, talked about how 16Personalites.com helps people explore their personality type and matches them with professions that may be best suited for them.
• “How Experiential Education Can Build Your Résumé,” presented by Amy Bravo, showed students how to market the knowledge they gained from experiential education placements.
• Career Peer Kaylee Higgins delivered the workshop “How to Get an Internship,” which guided students on how to tailor their résumés and job search strategies to secure a summer internship.
