
China Joint M.B.A. Program Welcomes 20th Cohort, Honors Distinguished Alumni

On December 9, New York Institute of Technology welcomed the 20th cohort of its joint M.B.A. program with Nanchang-based Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE). Members of New York Tech’s leadership team traveled from New York to welcome 120 new students to the program, now in its 21st year.
New York Tech representatives included Associate Provost Lou Reinisch, Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Patrick Minson, Vice President of Enrollment Management Joseph Posillico, Executive Director for Operations and Planning Victoria Pfeiffer, and School of Management Professor and Associate Dean Scott Liu, who has led the program since it began in 1997. Representatives of JUFE welcoming the new cohort at the December 9 ceremony included Vice President Xiaoli Liu, Dean of the School of Business Administration Haibo Hu, Dean of the School of M.B.A. Education Liang Ning, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School Chunhai Tao, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Xiaobin Liu, Deputy Dean of the School of M.B.A. Education Liangpin Wu, and International M.B.A. Program Manager Lewis Han.
New York Tech became one of the first foreign universities to receive approval from China’s Ministry of Education to operate an M.B.A. there through an agreement with JUFE. During the intensive, rigorous degree program, NYIT School of Management faculty members travel to China for intensive classes and student groups meet with faculty in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen. The joint program has educated more than 1,500 M.B.A. graduates.
During their visit, the New York Tech team met with some of the joint program’s successful alumni, including Wang Jin, chairman of the board of Shanghai Kaike Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The university also presented five alumni of the joint program with outstanding alumni awards. Honored during the opening ceremony was Dr. Xiaolin (Larry) Qiu, Chairman of the Board and President of the prestigious Nanchang Institute of Technology (NIT), a 2.6 million-square-meter campus with 26,000 full-time students and 1,800 faculty. Four additional awards were presented in Shanghai to:
- Chen Haijuan, Vice President of China Machinery Industry Information Institute and Deputy Director of China Machine Press.
- Huang Guangrong, General Manager of Shanghai Shenhui Automobile Steering Gear Co., Ltd.
- Hu Xu, Shenzhen Airlines Co., Ltd., executive.
- Jing Xie, Chairman of the Board of HGC Group, which recruits students for New York Tech in China.
