March 14, 2022
Francesca Fiore, Ed.D., has joined New York Tech’s Academic Affairs team as interim associate provost. In this role, she reports to Jerry Balentine, D.O., interim provost, and will collaborate with New York Tech’s academic units to facilitate the development of innovative degree, certificate, and credential programs with high workforce demand potential.
Fiore’s other responsibilities include working with deans and chairs on program reviews, proposals, and applications to the New York State Department of Education and with other departments to ensure accurate and consistent implementation of curriculum and other information internally and externally. She will also take a lead role in the implementation and outcomes for New York Tech’s Strategic Action Plan and collaborate with Information Technology Services to facilitate online programming, structure, and processes.
“New York Tech is a leader in providing career-oriented education, and its commitment to ‘learning by doing’ is even more critical during these times. I am excited about joining a leadership team that prioritizes student access to the kinds of new and innovative programs that will prepare them for future success,” she said.
Fiore joins New York Tech from The New School, where she was vice dean of strategy and administration for the Schools of Public Engagement. There, her responsibilities included leading the design and implementation of curricular development and the assessment of student learning outcomes and experiences. She developed communications and partnership strategies to elevate reputation, enhance community building, and develop articulation agreements, experiential learning opportunities, and public programs. She also coordinated equity, inclusion, and social justice initiatives across the school. Prior to that, she led a portfolio of workforce development, business services, career and academic advisement, and professional programs for LaGuardia Community College as associate dean of workforce development and business services.
“Francesca’s history of developing and implementing programs that promote educational access and economic opportunity—including those supporting adult and nontraditional learners—will contribute greatly to the broader student experience at New York Tech,” Balentine said. “Additionally, her spirit of volunteerism and commitment to mentoring, aligning with our mission and vision, will benefit our university community.”
Fiore received a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Public Administration in Financial Management and Public Finance from New York University, as well as a Master of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College.
