NYIT School of Management Dean Jess Boronico, Ph.D., was elected president of the Northeast Business Dean’s Association (NEBDA) at their annual conference in September. The organization is the regional association of collegiate business programs offered by colleges and universities in the northeast and eastern Canada, and is affiliated with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It is one of seven regional business dean associations in the United States.

As president of the association, Boronico says he hopes to expand the portfolio of services offered to the members and build stronger relationships between academic institutions and industry institutions, including with those across the border to Canada (an initiative he has already begun).

“I especially look forward to the cross-border opportunities that NEBDA will engage in this year, with an eye to leveraging both the significant experiences that NYIT School of Management has had in developing and sustaining its M.B.A. program in Vancouver, and our approaches to building and strengthening impactful collaborations between NYIT and Canadian academic and business enterprises,” he said.

In his role as organizer of NEBDA’s annual conference this past September, Boronico was able to secure David Alward, Canada’s counsul general to the New England States and 32nd premier of New Brunswick, and Tim Daus, executive director of the Canadian Federation of Business School Deans, as speakers at the association’s annual conference.

Boronico is an active member of NEBDA, having served as second vice president and first vice president in the last two years. “I am pleased to serve as the president of NEBDA this year,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with our officers and volunteers to implement an ambitious plan of action that will broaden the portfolio of services to our member schools, their deans and students, and other participants that form our stakeholder community in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canadian sector.”
