New York Tech Welcomes New Registrar

February 7, 2022

Ian K. White, Ed.D., a higher education administrator with two decades of experience, joins New York Institute of Technology as registrar. White will oversee an office of 11 staff members and report directly to Joseph Posillico, Ed.D., vice president for Enrollment Management.

As registrar, White will work closely with the Office of Academic Affairs and will be responsible for all registrar-related responsibilities, including academic policies and calendars, degree requirements, the curriculum, reporting, records, institutional research, compliance, and strategic planning implementation.

White joins New York Tech from Caldwell University in Caldwell, N.J., where he most recently was the assistant vice president for academic initiatives and infrastructure, responsible for the registrar’s office, the Center for Advising, Records and Enrollment Services (C.A.R.E.S.), career planning and development, and internal and external strategic initiatives. During his nine years at Caldwell, he also served as registrar and C.A.R.E.S. director and as director of institutional research. His experience includes developing strategic initiatives to improve service to students and expand tactics to increase student retention and persistence, award prior learning credit, and establish corporate and academic partnerships; participating in the core curriculum committee; utilizing data mining for retention and persistence and overseeing new program development; among other initiatives.

“New York Tech is committed to providing an exceptional student experience. Ian’s broad higher education and enrollment management experience, coupled with his data-driven strategic approach to decision making, among other expertise, will serve our students well as he takes the helm as registrar,” said Posillico.

Prior to his tenure at Caldwell, White was at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in the roles of academic programs manager, director of compliance for the academic auditing program, assistant registrar for data management, and registrar for the School of Nursing.

“New York Tech is at the leading edge of technology, both pedagogically and in terms of the student experience. I am excited to help New York Tech keep pace with the changes happening in student services and the student enrollment lifecycle,” said White. “Together with a top-tier leadership team, I hope to create an environment where students have a holistic, well-rounded student experience that will allow them to grow personally, succeed academically, and expand socially.

Ian White holds an Ed.D. in education leadership from Caldwell University, an M.A. in political science from Rutgers University, and a B.A. in philosophy from Saint Michael’s College (Colchester, Vt.).
