News Brief: NYIT Presented with Community Donor Award

On May 22, Long Island Head Start (LIHS) presented New York Institute of Technology with the Community Donor Award for the work the university does on behalf of the children and families LIHS serves. Jordon Thompson, NYIT deputy general counsel, and William Marchand, senior director of Facilities Operations, accepted the award on behalf of the university at the LIHS 53rd Anniversary Gala. In addition, they were presented with a proclamation from Suffolk County, which recognizes NYIT’s support of Long Island Head Start for more than 20 years.
LIHS is a not for profit organization that provides critical services to more than 2,000 children and helps thousands of Long Islanders learn how to raise healthy happy families. The mission of LIHS is to provide a comprehensive learning environment to children respectful of their cultures and to assist families in reaching self-sufficiency through the combined efforts of parents, community, and staff.
