NYIT Hosts Sustainability Leadership Teleconference

The event on Thursday, June 11 at 11 a.m. will feature presentations on clean energy technology, environmental issues, and sustainable practices streamed from several global locations to an audience in Harry Schure Hall at NYIT's Old Westbury campus. The free teleconference is open to the NYIT community.

Among the presenters and their topics are:

• James Rice, CEO of Nautilus Solar Energy, "Business Takes the Lead: What Specifically Can a Business Do to Be a Sustainability Leader?"
• Nick Goldsmith, sustainability coordinator for Ithaca, N.Y., "Municipal Sustainability in Ithaca, N.Y."
• Eric Mazzi, Ph.D., adjunct professor at NYIT-Vancouver, "Incorporating Behavior Change Concepts into Facility Energy Management Training in Professional and Post-Secondary Programs."
• Maya Camou, principal at M3D Consulting, "Modeling Sustainable Futures: Strategic Planning in Supporting Organizational Cultural Shifts."
• Tagba Malike Djato-Bougonou (M.S. '15), "Biogas Production from Municipal Waste Management: Case Study of Sub-Saharan Africa."

Robert Amundsen, Ph.D., director of energy management for NYIT School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, will welcome guests, and Patricia Burlaud, Ph.D., dean of NYIT Global Academic Programs, will deliver an address on higher education from a global perspective.

The event is part of a two-day focus on sustainability, which kicks off with the university's annual energy conference on June 10 at NYIT de Seversky Mansion.
