NYIT M.B.A. Cohort Celebrates Graduation at JUFE

One hundred twenty M.B.A. graduates of NYIT assembled today at the Qingshanyuan Campus of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) to celebrate the completion of their professional degrees.

NYIT Provost Rahmat Shoureshi, Ph.D., and JUFE Vice President Wu Zhaoyun offered their personal congratulations and words of advice for the new graduates, and NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., shared a greeting via video.

In his message of congratulations to NYIT’s newest alumni, President Guiliano highlighted that NYIT School of Management recently earned accreditation by AACSB International. He said, “NYIT joins only a handful of top institutions in China, and fewer than 5 percent throughout the world, whose business programs have achieved this international recognition.” Wu advised the graduates always to keep an attitude of service to society. Shoureshi added his encouragement, stating that in China’s transitioning economy, “your preparation at NYIT will show its worth.”

In addition to Wu and Shoureshi, graduates were greeted by Zhou Mei, dean of JUFE’s M.B.A. School, who emceed the event, and Associate Dean Wu Liangping. Other attendees from NYIT included Scott Liu, Ph.D., associate dean for global programs and a professor in the NYIT-JUFE M.B.A. program, and “Tony” Lei Tong, associate director of alumni and employer relations.

Two graduates addressed the assembly on behalf of all graduates of the NYIT-JUFE 14th Cohort. Sun Lulu, who studied at NYIT-JUFE’s program in Shenzhen, and Li Pengqi, who studied at NYIT-JUFE’s program in Beijing, delivered the same message in English and Chinese, respectively. “In the time that we studied in this M.B.A. program, we broadened our horizons and improved our problem-solving abilities in actual work,” they said. They added their sincere appreciation to the leaders of both universities, as well as to teaching staff.

Since 1997, NYIT has had an educational cooperation agreement with JUFE, a top university in its area of specialty. Student groups meet with faculty in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen for an intensive, rigorous degree program. NYIT was among the first universities to receive approval from the Ministry of Education to operate foreign degree programs in China.
