NYIT Partners with World Leader in Cyber Research
March 5, 2018
NYIT School of Engineering and Computing Sciences has a long history of fostering partnerships with industry leaders, government, and professional organizations. Not only have these initiatives helped strengthen centers and other ventures at the school (including NYIT’s NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education), but they have also helped create a robust talent pipeline by bridging the gap between education, businesses, and the wider community. The most recent example is NYIT’s new partnership with Cybersecurity Ventures, the world’s leading researcher and publisher covering the global cyber economy.
In 2018, NYIT and Cybersecurity Ventures plan to collaborate on a number of initiatives, including:
- Research: School of Engineering and Computing Science Dean Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., is a contributor to Cybersecurity Ventures’ 2018 annual report on Women in Cybersecurity, as well as a report on the cybersecurity ecosystem in New York City.
- Leadership: Dean Anid has joined Cybersecurity Ventures’ Board of Advisors.
- Editorial Exposure: Cybercrime Magazine, which Cybersecurity Ventures is launching in March, will focus special editorial coverage on NYIT faculty and student research aimed at combating cybercrime. In addition, students will gain exposure to real-world investigative reporting on hacks and data breaches.
- New York City Cybersecurity Roundtables: Cybersecurity Ventures and NYIT will co-host roundtable meetings with local and global cybersecurity companies. The discussions will focus on developing the New York City cybersecurity ecosystem and recruiting more cybersecurity companies to the local area, among other initiatives.
“We’ve entered into a strategic partnership with NYIT in order to bolster New York City as a major cybersecurity hub now and in the future,” says Steve Morgan, founder and editor-in-chief at Cybersecurity Ventures. “Dean Anid and the faculty at NYIT have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to community service. We’re drawn to their deep experience and track record in supporting diversity initiatives, which is essential to New York City’s continued development and expansion of its cybersecurity ecosystem.”
