Prerequisite: Prerequisites: MENG 221, CENG 260, MATH 260 In this course, students will learn the analysis of determinate and indeterminate of structural elements and systems, including bars, trusses, beams and frames using the matrix displacement method. Students will analyze the forces and displacements of structures, qualitative deflected shapes, shear and bending moment diagrams, and implement analysis procedures using MATLAB or other software. Students will learn the effective stress concepts, stress and settlement analyses, evaluation of shear strength, and geotechnical engineering design concepts.
