School of Management Commencement Awards

The following awards are presented to graduating students each year at commencement:

Undergraduate Students

Accounting and Finance

  • Award for Academic Achievement in Accounting: Conferred upon an undergraduate student in the B.S./BA Accounting) program with the highest GPA in accounting
  • Award for Academic Achievement in Finance: Conferred upon an undergraduate student in the B.S./BA (Finance) Program with the highest GPA in finance

Hospitality Management

  • Society of Hosteurs Club Award: Conferred upon a graduate who, as a member of the Society of Hosteurs, has made a significant contribution to the club.
  • Hospitality Management Faculty Award: Conferred by the faculty of the Hospitality Management Program upon a graduate who has demonstrated continuous service, concern, and support of the school, college, and the industry.
  • Dean’s Award for Excellence in Hospitality Management: Conferred by the Dean of the School of Management upon a graduate who has demonstrated excellence in academic performance and contributions to the industry and that have brought credit to the student, the program, and New York Tech.

Human Resource Management

  • Center for Human Resource Studies Faculty Award: Awarded by the faculty to a graduating student who has excelled in the Human Resources Management specialization of the MS HRM/LR or BSBA (HRM) degree program
  • Deerson Bienstock Law Club Endowed Award: Conferred on an Old Westbury Campus graduating student for excellence in one of the Management Degree programs, who has a sincere desire to pursue a career in law

Management, Marketing, and Quantitative Methods

  • Award for Academic Achievement in Management: Conferred upon an undergraduate student in the B.S./BA (Management) program with the highest GPA in management.
  • Award for Academic Achievement in Marketing: Conferred upon an undergraduate student in the B.S./BA (Marketing) program with the highest GPA in marketing.
  • Award for Outstanding Engagement to the Academic Community: Conferred upon a graduating B.S./BA student who has helped the students, disciplines of management, science, and marketing studies, and the school by engaging voluntarily in various activities

B.S./BA Program

  • Outstanding Contributions to New York Tech Award; Awarded to an undergraduate B.S./BA student who contributed the most to the educational experience in the School of Management.
  • Award in Career Building Platform: Conferred upon an undergraduate B.S./BA student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the Career Building Platform.
  • Terrence Brady Memorial Award: Awarded in memory of a former professor and presented to encourage humanitarianism, integrity, and professionalism and to acknowledge these traits in a student graduating from the School of Management.

Graduate Students

Accounting and Finance

  • Award for Academic Achievement in Accounting: Conferred upon a graduating student in the M.B.A. (Accounting) Program with the highest GPA in accounting.
  • Award for Academic Achievement in Finance: Conferred upon a graduating student in the M.B.A. (Finance) program with the highest GPA in finance.
  • New York CPA Society Award: Awarded to the student graduating with a high academic average in accounting who shows promise in the public accounting profession.

Human Resource Management

  • John J. Theobald Graduate Achievement Award in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations: Conferred upon a deserving student in the master’s program, based on scholarship and outstanding contribution to the college and/or outside community (Only one award may be selected for each Master’s Degree).
  • Anita Messinger Memorial Award: Awarded to the woman graduate from the M.S. in HRM/LR who has shown outstanding ability in leadership, performed willing service and has given promise of professional achievement.
  • Nassau Civic Club Award: Awarded to the graduating student in the M.S. HRM/LR program who has performed outstanding service to the Center for Human Resource Studies or the Advisory Council.
  • American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Award: Awarded to the graduating student who has demonstrated the most potential for significant contribution in the field of Human Resource Development.
  • Center for Human Resource Studies Alumni Council Award: Awarded to the graduate who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievement in pursuit on the M.S. HRM/LR degree
  • Center for Human Resource Studies Faculty Award: Awarded by the faculty to a graduating student who has excelled in the Human Resources Management specialization of the M.S. HRM/LR or B.S./BA (HRM) degree program.

Management, Marketing, and Quantitative Methods

  • Student Award for Academic Achievement in Marketing: Conferred upon a graduating student in the M.B.A. (Marketing) Program with the highest GPA in marketing.
  • Award for Academic Achievement in Management: Conferred upon a graduating student in the M.B.A. (General Management) program with the highest GPA in management.
  • Award for Academic Achievement in Operations and Supply Chain: Conferred upon a graduating student in the M.B.A. (Operations/Supply Chain) program with the highest GPA in Operations/Supply Chain subjects.

EMBA and JUFE Program

  • EMBA Student Award for Excellence: Conferred upon a deserving student in the EMBA program, based on scholastic achievement and contribution to the college community.
  • NYIT-JUFE MBA Student Award for Excellence: Conferred upon a deserving NYIT-JUFE student in the M.B.A. program of each campus who has achieved excellence in business studies.

M.B.A. Program

  • John J. Theobald Graduate Outstanding Contributions to NYIT Award: Awarded to a graduating M.B.A. student who contributed the most to the educational experience (of the student community) in the School of Management.
  • Graduate Student Award in Career Building Platform: Conferred upon a graduating M.B.A. student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the Career Building Platform
  • Award for Outstanding Service to the Academic Community: Conferred upon a graduating M.B.A. student who has helped the students, department, and the school by engaging voluntarily in various activities.
