Alumni Relations Director Remembers Her Student Days at NYIT

September 2, 2015

"While I was a student at NYIT, I had such a great experience interacting with professors and other people on campus," says Jennifer Kelly (M.S. '99). "I loved the campus culture and thought it would be a great place to work." Kelly would eventually follow through on her interest in working at NYIT. In 2012, she was hired as the university's director of alumni relations.

To this day, she remembers the difference made by mentors from her time as a student. One such person is labor relations professor Richard Dibble, then chairperson of the Center for Labor and Industrial Relations, who suggested she apply for the center's scholarship. "His support was a lifesaver," Kelly says.

She was awarded the scholarship, which helped pay for classes during four straight semesters. After graduating, she served as associate director of the NYIT Career Network Center (now the Office of Career Services) until 2006.

Today, you'll find Kelly on and off campus hosting alumni events and building a shared sense of university pride and camaraderie among members of the NYIT community. Many of her upcoming alumni events are also open to NYIT students and faculty and staff members. View events.
