
NYIT Experts Take Over the Airwaves

NYIT faculty shared their research findings and expertise the week of January 28 on The Academic Minute, a segment that airs daily on Northeast Public Radio and also appears in Inside Higher Ed. NYIT joins other esteemed colleges and universities in the series, which asks faculty members to share research findings that contribute to the public good.
NYIT Week featured five faculty members speaking on a variety of topics including the fiscal state of healthcare, the impact of architecture on nation-state borders, antibiotic resistance, the food-energy nexus, and the health of eSports athletes. Read more below:
- Monday, January 28: Pamela Treister, D.N.P., School of Health Professions, poses solutions to the increased volume of uncompensated emergency care.
- Tuesday, January 29: Dongsei Kim, M.Des., School of Architecture and Design, examines architecture’s impact on nation-state borders.
- Wednesday, January 30: Bryan Gibb, Ph.D., College of Arts and Sciences, discusses the potential for bacteriophage therapy to treat antibiotic resistance.
- Thursday, January 31: Ziqian (Cecilia) Dong, Ph.D., College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, describes the increasing threat of extreme weather conditions, and explains how modeling tools can help engineers and urban leaders build infrastructure that can withstand climate change.
- Friday, February 1: Hallie Zwibel, D.O., NYIT Center for eSports Medicine, explains how gaming is changing the way healthcare providers evaluate college athletes.
To date, The Academic Minute has featured nearly 20 NYIT experts who have reached millions of influencers and other stakeholders, showcasing the university’s dedication to cutting-edge research and thought leadership.
