Student Activities Flourished in the 1960s at NYIT

NYIT's second decade was a period of growth for student organizations and amenities at the New York campuses. Examples are:
- In 1964, Scope debuted as a student newspaper at NYIT's Manhattan campus. Drama club students also performed the play You Can't Take It With You.
- NYIT opened its second campus in Old Westbury in 1965 and launched WNYT, its first college radio station.
- The Campus Slate student newspaper published its first issue in September 1966. It initially served students at the new Old Westbury campus.
- By December 1969, NYIT had converted a dairy barn on the Old Westbury campus into the Student Activity Center to offer students more social and community activities.
