Dear Faculty and Staff,

As you know, New York Institute of Technology is committed to being one of the most affordable private not-for-profit universities in New York, preparing our students to become the makers, doers, innovators, and healers of the next generation.

Over the past year, we've looked at many ways to support our students' success by addressing affordability, adding value, and improving the return on investment they've made here. I'm happy to share some recently launched initiatives aiming to do just that:

• Discounted tuition for summer courses: This summer, all current, incoming, and visiting undergraduate students will be able to take advantage of a discounted tuition rate of $700 per credit, representing a 42 percent discount over the regular per-credit tuition. We've reached out to encourage all of our undergraduates (and their friends from other schools) to catch up on or accelerate the completion of their degree programs by checking out this year's robust list of summer course offerings.
• New scholarship for children of public sector employees: Yesterday, we welcomed government and public sector officials to Long Island for the launch of a major new scholarship to honor the commitment and dedication of police officers, firefighters, EMT personnel, and K–12 teachers in the NY-NJ-CT tristate area. The scholarship provides children of these public servants up to a 50 percent tuition discount on full-time undergraduate study.
• Legacy and alumni scholarships: Last month, we launched a new Legacy Scholarship, providing reduced tuition to the children of NYIT alumni as well as a new program offering our alumni a discounted tuition of up to 50 percent on full-time graduate programs. Information on this and all of our other institutional scholarships can be found online.
• Increased credits during the regular semester: As I wrote to you earlier this year, we have increased the number of credits covered by full-time undergraduate tuition during the regular semester from 17 to 18. This increase gives students the opportunity to take more credits and accelerate the time it takes to complete their degrees.
