Presidential Excellence Awards Nominations

Each year, New York Tech’s Presidential Excellence Awards recognize faculty and staff who have made major contributions to the university by increasing engagement with our students. The deadline for nominations for the 2024 Presidential Excellence Awards is Friday, March 29.

Excellence in Teaching for Full-Time Faculty Members

Recognizes a full-time faculty member who has demonstrated a consistent dedication to teaching and to their students.

Eligibility: All full-time faculty members at New York Tech

Judging Criteria:

  • Quality of teaching
  • Impact on student success and student learning

Excellence in Teaching for Part-Time Faculty Members

Recognizes a part-time faculty member who has demonstrated a consistent dedication to teaching and to their students.

Eligibility: All part-time faculty members at New York Tech

Judging Criteria:

  • Quality of teaching
  • Impact on student success and student learning

Student Engagement in Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activities

Recognizes a faculty member who has actively engaged students in research, scholarship, and/or creative activities at New York Tech.

Eligibility: All full and part-time faculty members at New York Tech

Judging Criteria:

  • Quality of the research, scholarship or creative activities/proposals
  • Level of student engagement in the research/scholarship/creative activities
  • “Generalizability” and/or potential impact of the research

Innovator Award

Recognizes an employee who developed, implemented, or tried a new approach, system, or idea that substantially impacted student success

Eligibility: All full-time employees at New York Tech

Judging Criteria:

  • The significance or complexity of the problem that needed to be solved
  • The innovative nature of the approach/system/or idea
  • The level of impact on student success

Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Award

Recognizes an employee who displays an exceptional commitment to fostering an environment in which diversity is understood, valued, respected, and appreciated.

Eligibility: All full-time employees at New York Tech

Judging Criteria:

  • Actions taken to make the institution more diverse and/or inclusive
  • The impact of those actions on the environment at New York Tech

Staff Excellence Award

Recognizes a staff member whose contributions have positively impacted their division or department and the institution. The recipient demonstrates passion and dedication for his/her work and while making an impact on the institution.

Eligibility: All full-time staff members who have been at New York Tech for at least 18 months.

Judging Criteria:

  • Outstanding service to department, above and beyond daily responsibilities
  • Documentation of the impact on New York Tech as an institution
  • Actions taken to demonstrate passion and dedication to their work

Team Award

Recognizes a group of individuals comprising three or more employees (staff and/or faculty) that collaborate on an initiative that helps New York Tech be the best place to work, learn, and succeed.

Eligibility: A team (3 or more members) made up of faculty and/or staff from at least two different departments/units

Judging Criteria:

  • Clear description of the impetus for formation of the team
  • Description and outcomes of the initiative
  • Documentation of the impact of the team’s work on the New York Tech community
