Update on New York City Campus/NYIT Auditorium
January 14, 2020
Dear New York Tech Community,
As shared with you yesterday, our NYIT Auditorium on Broadway (AOB) will remain closed indefinitely due to the water main that broke near the corner of West 62nd Street and Broadway. Thankfully, our facilities and IT staff have worked diligently to make sure all of our other New York City campus buildings are fully operational and ready for the spring semester and the return of our students and faculty next week.
Sadly, the AOB will be out of commission for some time to come. After the water main break, thousands of gallons of muddy water flooded in and silt collected in the theater and adjacent spaces. The water level rose approximately 20 feet and submerged the auditorium and related equipment.
We will continue to share information on the status of the AOB with the New York Tech community as it becomes available.
Regards,
Hank Foley, Ph.D.
President
