To Faculty, Staff, and Students:

New York Institute of Technology recently received approval from the Village of Old Westbury to commence a major renovation at our Long Island campus. Starting in mid-June, a new storm water mitigation system will be installed under the parking lot in front of the Riland building. This system will allow us to contain up to 400,000 gallons of runoff storm water and eliminate pond overflow that, in years past, has caused water damage within the Serota building.

During construction, nearly all of the parking in front of the Riland building will be inaccessible. Alternate parking and shuttle services for community members and patients will be arranged. Jerry Balentine, D.O., dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and vice president for health sciences and medical affairs, has assembled a team from the School of Health Professions, the Academic Health Care Center, and NYITCOM to ensure that this project has minimal impact on campus operations.

We will share additional updates as arrangements are finalized. The construction is expected to be completed by August 30.
