Additional Complaint Mechanisms

Student complaints can be initiated for both academic and non-academic concerns. For more information on New York Tech's internal complaint procedures, please refer to the Resolve a Complaint page.
United States Department of Education Regulation 34 CFR § 668.43(b) requires institutions of higher education that are authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act to provide its students or prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with its accreditor and with its State approval or licensing entity and any other relevant State official or agency that would appropriately handle a student's complaint.
In accordance with the above, if a satisfactory resolution cannot be reached internally, complaints may be filed with the New York State Education Department, Office of Higher Education as follows:

New York Tech is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). When a complaint cannot be resolved at the Institution, the student has the option to file the complaint under the NC-SARA process. A State Portal Entity will address the concerns related to distance education activities from out-of-state students attending a participating SARA institution. Information regarding how to file a complaint can be found here. You can find state portal entity contact information listed through the SARA website. Students studying under NC-SARA have two years in which to file their complaint with the State Portal Entity. Complaints about grades or student conduct violations cannot be addressed through the SARA process. (See SARA Policy Manual, version 23.1, December 8, 2023, Section 4. Consumer Protection.)
