CourseLeaf
About CourseLeaf
CourseLeaf Curriculum Inventory Management ("CourseLeaf CIM") is an online curriculum management system that streamlines and simplifies our curriculum process. It reduces duplicate data entry, identifies courses and programs impacted by a curricular change, includes a markup feature to allow users to easily track changes during the creation of a program proposal (highlighting the addition of new items in green and deleted items in red), collects reviewer feedback in a central location, and automates approval workflows.
CourseLeaf CIM is based on a dynamic and automated workflow approval process that is defined by each academic unit. CIM is used for creating a new course or program, modifying an existing course or program, retiring an existing course or program, and requesting a new subject code.
New York Tech CourseLeaf Help Guide
Course Inventory Management (CIM)
Course Inventory Management is used when proposing a new course or modifying an existing course. Please review New York Tech Procedures and Forms for additional information about making changes to an existing curriculum.
Program Management
CourseLeaf Program Management is used when proposing a new degree program or for changes to existing degree programs.
New program proposals, including dual-degree/accelerated programs, must be approved by dean of your school and the Office of Academic Affairs before they can be submitted to the Curriculum Committee of the New York Tech Academic Senate. Please email programdev@nyit.com in the Office of Academic Affairs to schedule a preliminary meeting before proceeding with the following steps in CourseLeaf.
Initial proposals and full proposals have different requirements; a process has been prepared and approved by the curriculum committee. New York Tech Procedures and Forms has all information about the new NYSED e-forms for new program proposals, new certificates, or advanced certificates, and adding distance education to an existing program.
FAQs
How do I get access to CourseLeaf CIM?All New York Tech full-time faculty and staff may access to the CourseLeaf CIM system. To request access, email cimsupport@nyit.edu.
My role has changed, but my CourseLeaf access level has not. what should I do?
Email cimsupport@nyit.edu to request that your role be changed in the system.
I received a proposal for review/approval, and I'm not sure why. what should I do?
You may have received the proposal because you are on a (departmental/school or college or senate) curriculum committee tasked with reviewing the proposal or because the initiator of the proposal is requesting your input.
If either of these are the case, you should review the proposal and select Approve or provide feedback as appropriate.
If neither of these are true, contact cimsupport@nyit.edu.
I never received a notification for a specific proposal and am not sure why. What should I do?
Make sure the emails aren't going to your SPAM folder. Please contact cimsupport@nyit.edu if you are still not receiving emails.
I received a proposal as an FYI but would like to provide feedback. What should I do?
Anyone can add a comment to a proposal:
- Navigate to the CIM search page to search for a course in workflow.
- Click the Add Comment button and enter the comment.
- Click OK.
Comments are displayed on the Proposal preview with a timestamp and username. Note: These comments are viewable by all CourseLeaf users and cannot be edited after they are posted.
I submitted a proposal and now don't know where it is. What should I do?
If you saved your proposal but did not submit it, you will see the message "Changes saved but not submitted" at the top of the page as well as a timestamp for when the proposal was last edited.
If the proposal does not display or does not show any of your changes, it is possible that you did not save your proposal or submit it to workflow and will need to create a new proposal.
I can't find my subject code in the drop-down. What should I do?
The subject code may either be inactive or no longer in use. To request a new subject code, please contact the Registrar.
Where is my proposal in the Workflow?
Workflow steps are tracked on the right-hand side of the proposal in a vertical list. Completed Workflow steps are green, the current Workflow step is orange, and future Workflow steps are gray. Directly under this list is the Approval Path. The Approval Path list provides Date/Time/User stamps for each of the completed Workflow steps.
I see CAT And CIM on the main page. What is the difference?
Right now, New York Tech is only using CIM. CAT is their Academic Catalog. CIM is the course and program management system with a workflow approval component.
Which browser should I use to access CourseLeaf?
CIM will work on most browsers including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari.
Can I keep a record of my proposal?
Yes. Once a proposal has been submitted to the workflow, click the gray "Export to PDF" button that is visible once you click on the proposal in the list. You can export the file to a PDF and save it on your device.
How do I retire or reactivate a course?
Please contact the Registrar to reactivate or retire a course.
Who do I contact for support?
Please email: cimsupport@nyit.edu.
