Transfer Credit Evaluator

You've worked hard so far. Whether you have received a previous degree or completed college courses, we take everything into consideration to get you the credit you deserve. You can use the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) as a resource to view course equivalencies from your previous institution(s) so you know how they may transfer to New York Tech's degree program.

Using our semester maps, you will be able to see where these courses fit into the specific degree you are considering.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll Badge

Phi Theta Kappa 2021 Transfer Honor Roll, recognized for excellence in the development and support of dynamic and innovative transfer pathways for community college transfer students.

How To Use the TES Database

  • Select your school and choose the appropriate course catalog from the years you were in attendance at that school. Access the TES Database.
  • You may also view specific equivalency guides for certain schools that we partner with to offer articulation or other agreements.
  • Once you have selected your courses, you can download a spreadsheet or email it to yourself. You can match up the courses with the courses required for your program of interest by viewing our semester maps.
  • If your school isn't listed or there is no equivalent for a course you have taken, then no problem, our transfer evaluations team can help! Email evaluations@nyit.edu and provide specific information on the course or school, and we will help you with potential transfer credit.
  • Our TES database will continue to be updated as new courses and institutions are reviewed, but equivalencies may be subject to change without previous notice.
  • Why not take the next step and meet with a transfer counselor to apply for admission and receive a preliminary evaluation of your credits? You can email transfer@nyit.edu to schedule a virtual appointment or to review any questions.

Transfer Credit Policy

Students transferring from an associate's degree program or two-year school are eligible for a maximum of 70 transfer credits. The maximum transfer credit for students transferring from a bachelor's program is the difference between the required 30 credits in residency at New York Tech and the total credits required for the New York Tech degree. For example, if a New York Tech degree requires 120 credits, students transferring from a bachelor's program are eligible for a maximum of 90 transfer credits.

Program Information:

  • Several undergraduate majors, such as Business Administration, Engineering, Nursing and Life Sciences combined, pre-professional programs have minimum grade requirements for transfer courses.
  • Students admitted to the Life Sciences, B.S./Osteopathic Medicine, D.O. (B.S./D.O.) are not eligible for transfer credit.
  • Transfer credit for major architecture and digital art and design courses is determined for admitted students after a portfolio review with the academic department. Refer to the credit evaluation policies outlined in the New York Institute of Technology catalog for more information.
  • Current students are required to process a Permission to Take Courses at Another College form before taking classes outside of New York Tech for transfer credit.
