As of July 1, 2025, Workday is officially live! Workday will now be used for various HR functions such as benefits, compensation, hiring, onboarding, absences (time-off & leaves), and more.

Human Resources Functions in Workday

The following HR functions will be found in the Human Capital Management (HCM) module of Workday:

Core HR Processes

This includes managing employee demographic and compensation data, onboarding new employees, and handling offboarding when employees leave.

Payroll and Time Tracking

This involves managing payroll, tracking time and attendance, and scheduling the workforce.

Benefits Administration

Handling employee benefits, including enrollment and administration.

Workday Absence Management

  • Time-Off: Short-term absences like vacation, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement.
  • Leave of Absence: Longer-term absences for various reasons.
  • Managing Absences: You can view your entitlement balances and request or manage time away from work.

Workday Hire & Onboarding

  • Creating Positions and Job Requisitions: Setting up new roles and requesting to fill them.
  • Initiating Hires: Starting the process of hiring new employees.
  • Onboarding: Helping new employees get started with their roles.

Workday Multiple Jobs & Additional Work

Trainings

The following trainings will help prepare you for the various tasks and new processes related to the HCM module of Workday. Some of the courses are for general staff (e.g. Timesheet Submissions and Absence Requests,) while others are primarily for users who have access to Create Positions and Job Requisitions, adding Multiple Jobs, and making Changes During Employment).
